What's a Title?

A marathon meeting today...and it wasn't even very marathon-y...or bad really. It just made me angry because the people that should have come to the meeting didn't. So thank God for Todd. He saved the day because he is awesome.

We had happy hour at Gingerman's. You should go because it is awesome.

Want to know something funny? 101x plays songs that are non-censored (okay, they will censor out the really bad words, but "Goddamn" is fair, as is "Ass Crack"), and KissFM censors them...I think they're trying to make me feel bad about cussing when I sing along with the songs. IT'S FALLOUT BOY, COME ON! the average age of their fans is 12!

And you should read all the stuff about American Idol and their fund-raising on Reality Blurred (link in my favorite links to the right)

Stupid Williamson County Cops

I got pulled over and given a written warning. For having a brake light out. Now then, in Colorado, the cops usually pull you over and give you a verbal warning that your brake light is out. I mean really, how the hell are you going to know that your brake light is out? So anyhow, she decides that she's got to give me a written warning. So she goes off to write the warning ticket. She comes back and gives me my written warning. I look at it. The warning is for a Defective Brake Light (duh) and because my license-plate-holder-on-doohickey is partially covering the word "Texas" (uh, okay...?) I get home, and check. The very top of the letters is covered, as in you can still tell the "T" is a "T"--You can still obviously see that it says "Texas". Bah. stupid Williamson County Cops. I could understand if I was speeding or doing anything else that was really illegal. I mean when she turned on her lights, Shawn's first reaction was "did you not stop at the stop sign?" "uh, no, i did, i even waited the full 3 seconds." "well you weren't speeding, if anything you were going under." "no, not speeding." "hunh...well, don't take off your seat belt."

I would have gone and gotten the light bulb so I could fix my brake light, but it was quota day and we passed at least 3 cops getting into the neighborhood. We didn't want to press our luck so we came home instead. Of course the light won't get fixed until the weekend though...Watch, I'll get pulled over by the same cop for the same brake light violation tomorrow.

Short Hair, Day 1

So, I just took a shower and let my hair dry naturally without me doing anything to it (ok, i did add some "curl boost" stuff the lady sold me yesterday). And I gotta say that after it's all dried, it looks a lot like John Mayer's..but, I think I look a little less like Frankenstein. I do, however, think that I will attempt to straighten my hair for tomorrow, though.

Tell me I look good.

Before

After

I finally went and donated my hair...This is the shortest it's been since I was 8. And the last time I had bangs was when I was 15...the only bad part is that I think Miss Sarah currently has the same hairstyle and so we'll look the same from the back. Also, this now officially means that Shawn has longer hair than I do. :)

Oh...My....God! :::Stabs fork in eye::::

That's right...I'm stabbing a fork in my eye. I'm in training for the first half of the week. and it is the most boring training i have ever been to. EVER!

This training is on the same level as the one day in physics class...the day the teacher decided that he had to find the precise center of gravity for a 2x4 and instead of just getting it to kinda balance and saying "well kids, you have the idea," he spent about three quarters of the class time refining the balancing of said 2x4. About 5 minutes before the end of class, one of the students stood up and yelled "why don't you actually do some teaching or something?!?!?" before running out of the classroom screaming (and, in light of the VT thing, I'm just really glad he didn't have a gun).

But this training...same thing basically. The guy will get done with something about 15 minutes early and then he spends the next 20 minutes talking about how great it is that we're done 15 minutes early. Then he looks at the clock and says "my, look at the time! Okay everyone, let's cut our break from 15 minutes down to 10 minutes so we can get back on schedule." yeah, it sucks.

We did go to the NI company picnic on saturday. It was cold. And windy. Which made it even colder. We only stayed for about 2 hours. So, in other words, we hung around until after dinner then we beat a hasty retreat because we were frozen people-sickles.

Then we went hiking with Matt and Ross on Sunday. It was a little more than 7 miles. Good thing it was down hill because my legs started hurting at about mile 6. We then went and ate at the Shady Grove. Shawn says that he likes Austin Java better. At least the Shady Grove did well in making sure that his hamburger was done correctly (medium well, no pickles, no onions, no mustard--you'd be surprised how many places screw this up...especially the mustard). They did poorly in making sure the soda machine had enough syrup, the fact that they added fries to Shawn's order even though he didn't ask for them (and they charged us for it). But we didn't complain because the waitress forgot to add our drinks to the bill so they ended up being free. yay for free drinks!

13th

So, I'm lazy and I haven't blogged in a while...sorry.

Let's see...nothing all that exciting has been happening to me. Work has been slow, but it all of the sudden picked up yesterday afternoon and today (I didn't get to play on the internet once--not even to check my email!). Tomorrow is the National Instruments Company picnic...so that will be...fun? I don't know. It seems like we go to these things to get the food, but then we have to hang out to see the fireworks.

On Sunday we may go hiking with my coworkers along the Barton Springs greenbelt. We've never really been though we do hike from Spyglass Road to Zilker Park because I do horribly with parking when there are lots of cars, thus it's just easier to walk a mile and a half...each way. God I'm such a dork.

Red letter day

Man, today was a red letter day! That's right, RED LETTER!

when I was leaving work, I realized that Gary was driving right behind me, and behind him was Jonathan (they were going to the YMCA). Then, I decided to take Duval home instead of staying on 183, so I saw Miss Sarah out walking the dogs and then (!!!) at the light, I saw Shawn riding his bike home. Yep, these are the things that make me happy.

RED LETTER! YES!
