uh, yeah...that's mine

so the other day I was lounging in one of the chairs in the intern area talking with Todd and intern Charlie. I believe we were discussing the BLT lovers club (pretty much the 2nd and 4th wednesday of the month a group of us go out to a restaurant and eat BLTs. We then review them and score them so eventually, we shall know the best place to get a BLT). John walked over and so we started discussing how Freddie's claims they use Texas Toast when, in fact, it is just regular sliced white bread. Anyhow, I'm talking with these three gents for about 10 minutes or so and John leaves, and Karol comes by. The first thing she says "better cover yourself up there, Tina. You're showing some boob."

I think I turned bright red.

Then I looked down.

My shirt had slid down and to the side a little. And I am now, quite possibly showing off my wonderfully lovely nappy old white bra-ed right breast. I only say "quite possibly" because I don't know what can be seen from in front of me--I only know that from me looking down, and from where Karol was standing (to the left of me) that it was quite obvious that my boob was showing.

And thus, I had been talking with intern Charlie and Todd and John for God knows how long with my right boob showing. Yeah...I was red. well, everyone else had a good laugh. Sigh.

Blatantly Stolen from The Ambitious Mrs. Snap Page

the Venezuelan's Daughter and Aunt Sarah

Other News

In other news, Christina's ultrasound was canceled, so there will be no knowing of the sex of the baby (damn).

AND Shawn's dad was laid off. Stupid companies and their stupid laying off people a few years before retirement (in this case, four). It's just like my uncle--he was laid off a few months ago and it was totally the same situation. Welcome to the Suck.

I.V. is the Sylar of animals.

Yep, I.V. is just like Sylar from Heroes. Well, Sorta. Whenever she kills a new animal, the first thing she goes for is their delicious, delicious braaaainnnnns. I mean seriously, every animal we've found her with, she's gone and eaten their heads. So yeah...she's like Sylar...except with the stealing of powers thing...so maybe she's more like the queen of hearts--a real bitch who's always screaming "take of his head!"

A Cat's Best Friend

Stappy is I.V.'s bestest friend in the whole wide world. He loves to do all the same things as I.V. so it's no wonder that they're so close. Below is a photo series of a day in the life of Strappy*.

8am: Strappy starts out his day by sharing I.V.'s breakfast.
9am - Noon: Strappy enjoys watching what goes on outside. Sometimes he really wishes he could go out whenever he wanted. Also, he blends in with the rug (look for the red strap)

1pm: Watching the world go by can make a Cat Toy thirsty.
6pm: It's Strappy's bedtime. He normally sleeps next to I.V. on the people bed.

* I.V. carries Strappy** around the house with her. These are all the places I found him in the course of one day. Of course, trying to actually SEE her carry Strappy is a whole 'nother issue. As soon as she notices you in the same room, she'll normally drop Strappy, only to retrieve him at some other time when we're not paying attention.

**You may have noticed that Strappy has a bit o' the Duct Tape on him...That's because Strappy was originally part of a different cat toy and he was brutally riped off by an angry I.V. But then she started carrying around all the various little straps, so I duct taped them together into one toy. Plus, now we don't find a piece here, a piece there, etc.

Other things that are fun

So, last Saturday I said that I like the movies in Zilker Park thing.

Another thing I decided I like--going out with friends to sixth street (or in this case, people I barely know that work with Shawn). yep. especially if you go somewhere where you can talk...for example, sitting in front of the TV at Logan's is not a good place to talk to people as the stupid speakers are blaring in your ear. By the way, those people know their amp goes to 11, and always set it at that level. DAMN YOU!!!! However, the Library is fun. Though they put too much alcohol in your drink (wait, what am I saying? I'm complaining about a bar putting too much alcohol in an alcoholic drink? weird).

Things that are not fun: replacing a toilet when your floor is concrete and you're using a new fangled design that requires you to drill holes in your floor and then use concrete anchors. On the plus side: it only took us 2 days to get the toilet in. Though I claim we could have done it in one--but we had to leave to go do the bar crawl as mentioned above.

Also, I like Heroes. And Criminal Minds. Season Finale's are within the next week for both. Watch them.

My Austin

Alison's friend, Janet, did this on her blog, and I haven't blogged in a while (though I promise I'll try to get back on a regular blogging schedule).

My Austin, TX

Age: 25
Occupation: Watershed Engineering
I lived there for: 2.5 years
I lived there because: My husband got a job before I did. Well, that's how the cookie crumbles.
My neighborhood: Anderson Mill
My favorite restaurant: The Melting Pot
If you go to this restaurant, be sure to order: Swiss Cheese fondue...it comes with Apples!
My favorite museum: Ha ha, museum, that's funny. I haven't been to any of the museums down here...Though I did finally go to the capital building last week.
My favorite tourist destination: mmmm....BatCon
Best insider spot: insider spot for what? music (uh...Emo's?)? bar (Gingerman's)? bikes (9th street trails)? pizza (south side flying pizza)? coffee shop (Austin Java)? Dog park (Bull Creek)?
My favorite area: I like hanging out downtown by the river.
Best place to go shopping: I like Barton Square Mall the best.
When you visit, don’t forget to pack: hot weather clothes and yet, a jacket.
The one local cuisine you should try when you’re in town is: Barbeque from Rudy's, or the Salt Lick
The best way to get around: If you're downtown--Walk.
If I had to describe this city in one word, it would be: un-Texan.
I tell my friends to stay at: Usually, they stay with us...otherwise I say the hotel down the street from our house.
The one thing most outsiders don’t know about this city is: Largest Mexican Free-tail urban bat colony lives under Congress Bridge.
They say “Virginia is for lovers.” So fill in the blank: Austin is for music nuts...and for people that like doing bar crawls...and for people who like bats.

Movie in the Park

We just got home from Zilker Park. It's about 11:30 pm or so.

It's Employee Appreciation week for City of Austin employees. That means we get stuff (aka a free lunch, a free breakfast, a free movie, a free picnic). I have decided that my favorite part is Movie night at Zilker Park. There is nothing more fun than sitting on a hillside on a nice night watching a movie with your friends. Okay, maybe there are things that are more fun, but movie night at the park is definitely in the top 5.

Man, it's been forever!

So, I haven't blogged. I've been too busy playing games and staying late at work.

Anyhow, I think today is the day that Christina was supposed to go to get her ultrasound done. I hope i find out from her and/or Nathan about how it went before I hear about it from Elsie...but that's because I've got this thing where if it's your news, I want to hear about it from you, not from some third party. But maybe that's just me.
